A HONEST PAINTER

There lived a person named Sitaram in a village. He used to paint the house. He used to do his work with great honesty and hard work. Despite working hard he could earn very little.

So that he had to manage only two meals a day. He wanted to work more. One day the village landlord called Sita Ram. Sita Ram went to the landlord.

The landlord said that I have a boat, you have to paint it and you have to paint it today only. Sitaram told the landlord that he would paint it. When the landlord asked the landlord the rate for painting, Sitaram said that he would charge Rs 2500 for painting.

After this, the landlord showed Sitaram the boat standing on the bank of the river. Sitaram brought colors from his house and started painting it very neatly. While he was painting he noticed a hole in the boat.

He thought that if I just paint over it, this boat will sink. So first he filled that hole and then painted it. When the painting work of the boat was completed, he brought the boat to the landlord to show him.

After seeing the boat the landlord promised to pay the money the next day. After which Sitaram left. The next day the landlord’s wife and children sat in that boat and went for a walk across the river.

When the landlord’s servant returned in the evening, he did not see the rest of the family members in the house and asked the landlord, then the landlord told that he had gone in a boat for a walk across the river. The servant told the landlord that there was a hole in that boat.

The landlord became very upset by this. After some time, the landlord’s wife and children returned home safely. They had come to know that Sitaram had filled the hole while painting the boat.

After this, when Sitaram came to collect his money, the landlord gave him the money. When Sitaram counted, there were  5000 in it. Sitaram said, you have given me more money by mistake.

The landlord said, no, this is the reward for the work you have done. The hole you filled in while painting the boat. Because of him my family’s life was saved. Sitaram took the money and went home. He was very happy.

MORAL OF THE STORY IS  THE RESULT OF WORKING HONESTLY AND HARD IS ALWAYS GOOD
